School’s out, scream and shout!
- by scorzacomenius
Of course you’re thinking about your future, your aspectatives,
your hopes and why not? a probable job!
But now, let’s go back to high school.
Surely you’ve done your best to “improve yourself, to be aserious person bla bla..” More or less ..
LIKE
THIS!
We were..careful and involved during the classes!
We spent hours studying
We felt school was like a second home
We used to cooperate
Anyway..
Now it’s university time!
yeah, high school was a great period
but actually our responsabilities start!
•Choose a course
•Decide which University
•Try to pass the admission test
•Plan our New Life
Easy , isn’t it?
so easy
“what course
should I
choose?”
These are the last famous words xD
Every student at the end of high school asks himself this great
question and most of the times the answer is..
AM I.. ?
Italian
students are very confused.
We
don’t have any idea about the job that we would like to do the rest of our
lives, maybe because we are too young and we can’t understand our skills.
Anyway the majority choose courses like Medicine, Engineering, Economy and
Jurisprudence instead of Math or Social Science.
the elder generation, and the many young graduates are growing increasingly
frustrated by the lack of opportunity.
Many complain that Italy
has a hiring culture based on cronyism rather than meritocracy. The main
problem is that the old labor market in Italy is structured in a different way
compared to the others.
Here the career is very hierarchical and so even if you are a very
talented student, you cannot get a good position from the beginning.
graduates are increasingly opting to go abroad to find high-level jobs and
competitive salaries. Many complain that employers in Italy do not use an open
and fair selection process when filling positions
And so Italians move to Uk,Usa and even other neighboring
countries in Europe.
Let’s throw away our dreams
The majority of the students prefer attending traditional courses
(like for example Medicine or Engineering) because they think that it is vain
to follow their dreams ,the reason is because this kind of job is well paid
although it is hard to pass admission tests and the courses are longer than
others.
Unical
This is
one of the most important universities in Italy.
It has
got six faculties (Pharmacy, Economy, Engineering,
Mathematical, Physical and
Natural
Sciences, Political Science).
Furthermore
the University has got a centre for disabled
students,
a guidance service for students in difficulty with
their
studies, scholarships, a center of Arts, Music and
Entertainment
that organize concerts, film festivals,
theatrical
performances and exhibitions and more.
New
Courses
During
these years some Italian Universities are introducing new courses very interesting
and modern.
The university of Verona for example recently introduced a Master
in “Computer Games and Business Intelligence” for the students who
love to project and create.
The University of Pavia introduced the faculty of ” Science
of Flowers and Green”
The University of Urbino that of “Fashion and Design“.
The Faculty of Pharmacy is one of the youngest at the University
of Calabria. Its courses are organized by the Departments of Pharmaco-Biology
and Pharmaceutical Sciences, by the Faculty of Pharmacy, and by the Departments
of Cell Biology and Chemistry.
And after University..
How many of us find a job?
•37,6% are attending o attended to a postgraduate training

Hi! My name is Alessandro. I’m 16 years old and I live with my parents and my brother in Zumpano, a small village near Cosenza, in the south of Italy. I attend the 3th class at a secondary school focusing on scientific subjects called “Liceo Scientifico Statale G.B. Scorza” . As my photo shows, I’ve got dark brown eyes and short, brown hair and I’m quite tall and slim. In my free time I like playing football, playing computer games, reading books, listening to music and playing at the Q-ZAR, a nice game which you play using a laser pistol. I like both Italian music and foreign music like the Queen, Eminem, the Coldplay, Michael Jackson, the Green Day, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and others. I also like watching films, the one I prefer is Shindler’s list. I’m friendly, upstanding, polite and pleasant. I’d like to visit your countries and meet you all. See you soon.
